So what is WordCamp? WordCamp is kind of like a local mini convention. But it’s put on by local WordPress users to help other users. Since I have come so far in one year with WordPress, I decided to volunteer to present. I have been a newspaper designer for more than 16 years, so I thought I would take a designer topic and discuss that. So my session is about fonts.
I designed this site while working for SiteInsight. It was a WordPress site, so I customized the theme that the client choose. They already had a logo. I did a majority of the setup and organization, as well as researching photos for them and editing the photos. I used JavaScript and PHP to setup the interactivity.
This site was built for a woman who was starting her own business. She wanted to build her online business brand to get public speaking jobs in her industry. She is a specialist in snow removal, as she used to work for ODOT. The WordPress site features a calendar, social media integration, testimonials and customized graphics, login and dashboard. I used JavaScript to setup the form, as well. I no longer have anything to do with the site because she hired an assistant to manage it, so the design is now their own.
Chris is a book author and he had a new book coming out, so he wanted to update the site to get a new design and add the book that was launching. We used a template and I customized it for him and switched it over to WordPress. I did the photo work for him and helped edit the site as well as designed the site. This site launched in Sept., 2013.
