I started working as a Systems Editor in the NewsIT Department in Sept. 1999. I worked as a CCI SuperUser and a Macintosh Specialist on the Help Desk. I ended up being the top Macintosh expert in the whole building, the go-to person for all Macintosh issues. I set up networking protocol when we went wireless, I set best practices and I was the main troubleshooter for photo and graphics issues on deadline.
This remote project was a WordPress Website for launching a small consulting business in the health field. A professional logo (with avatars and print & digital versions) was created for this site.
This was a consulting job doing a WordPress Design/Development job for angicwriter.com. Angie Chatham is a freelance writer based out of Boston, who needed a portfolio website. This job was mostly WordPress work, with a little bit of design here and there. I also set up the backups, SEO, etc.
This was a 1-year contract for a Web Content Development role, but then switched to a different title as Web Analyst for the Marketing Team at Chemical Abstracts (CAS) in Columbus, OH. The company was using Drupal for their website and we worked with Media Current to manage development on the site.
This was a 2-month contract as a WordPress Developer for the Marketing Team at InXite Health Systems in Columbus, OH. The company had been working on three websites in WordPress and had a deadline to meet that was coming up soon. So we had 2 months to launch at least 2 of the sites. We ended up launching the day before the deadline. 🙂
I occasionally do tutorials to sharpen my skills and this is a PhotoShop 3D Tutorial that I did for a possible Holiday Campaign. The Interface is a manual slider, so you can see and compare the before-and-after images. Position your cursor over the image to see the original compared with my version on the right.
This is a series of Before and After pics from Image Restoration work that I have done over the years. When an image becomes a sepia color, it means it has aged, so when restoring images, I switch it back to the original B&W, unless the client desires the image to be Sepia toned. The Interface is a manual slider, so you can see and compare the before-and-after images.
I taught this design class Fall Semester 2017 for the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University in Athens, OH. I had 11 undergraduates (mostly Freshman & Sophomores) in my class, who had never had a design class before, so their experience varied. I guided them through basic principles of design and gave them their first introduction to InDesign. Their projects included designing a tools guide for InDesign, 2 posters, a resume and a magazine cover and inside layout.
I taught a WordPress class Spring Semester 2017 for the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University in Athens, OH. The class basically took all the skills they had learned previously and merged them into a class using WordPress. Most had never used WordPress or Hosting Accounts and domains before, so it was a little bit of everything.
I designed, set up and managed the company’s bi-weekly HTML email marketing campaign (sometimes more than bi-weekly). I designed e-mails in PhotoShop and after final approval, I sliced them up to transfer and code for ExactTarget Email Marketing tool for scheduling and management.
