The Washington Post

I started working as a Systems Editor in the NewsIT Department in Sept. 1999. I worked as a CCI SuperUser and a Macintosh Specialist on the Help Desk. I ended up being the top Macintosh expert in the whole building, the go-to person for all Macintosh issues. I set up networking protocol when we went wireless, I set best practices and I was the main troubleshooter for photo and graphics issues on deadline.

Soul of Athens

Soul of Athens was a special online project completed during Spring Quarter 2008. I was part of a class that handled the Content Management for the project. I found content from other students and coordinated with the project Team Leaders. I also handled a lot of trouble shooting and training for the project.

The Washington Post, Photo Desk

I got an offer from the AME for Photo to come and work on the Photo Desk as an editor. I started out as an Assignment Editor for the Features and Business sections. Part of the job dealt with making assignments and part of the job dealt with finding and researching photo for different stories. I even took a studio photo specifically for a business story instead of buying a similar photo. I coordinated the shoot and selected the one that would work (and I got a published credit for it).

SNDC

I was working at The Washington Post when we hosted the annual SND (Society for News Design) Convention in 2003. I ended up submitting a design that they chose for the logo, which they made into t-shirts, polo shirts, jean shirts, hats, pens and bags. I also volunteered to help out so I was put in charge of IT for the convention. I helped coordinate loaner copmuters from Apple, as well as helped set them up in the temporary lab. During the convention, I was a coordinator and floater for presentation and AV assistance.
